Adware Warning

Adware is a class of software that puts advertisements on your computer.  It can cause pop ups, change your home page, or possibly redirect your web browsing to a specific merchant.  Unlike most computer viruses, adware is generally not destructive, however it can slow down your computer and be difficult remove.  
We’ve recently received reports of pop ups that appear to come from us selling credit scores and other financial products.  Austin Telco FCU does not endorse these pop ups or their products.  We do not use pop up advertising of any sort.
Adware can spread to your PC by the same methods used to distribute viruses.  It can be hidden in email attachments, free software, malicious websites and file sharing utilities.  Most antivirus or computer security software can block and remove adware.  We strongly recommend that you protect your computer with antivirus software, keep it up to date, and scan for threats regularly.
