Overdraft Privilege Ends August 15th Unless You Choose to Opt-In
Austin Telco offers two overdraft programs to help protect members from the embarrassment and possible financial burden of returned checks, electronic payments, one-time debit card purchases, and ATM transactions. Our Overdraft Protection service automatically transfers funds from your enrolled savings, money market, or other accounts in increments of $50 to cover any insufficient item; this service costs $5 per transfer. If no funds are available for Overdraft Protection, our Overdraft Privilege program pays these insufficient items by allowing your checking account to have a negative balance of up to $500 (this amount may vary based on qualifications); the fee for this service is $24 per transaction. Of course, neither program has any cost if no insufficient items are presented on your account.Due to upcoming changes in Federal Regulation E, your ability to utilize Overdraft Privilege for one-time debit card purchases and ATM transactions will be terminated on August 15, 2010 unless you choose to “opt-in”. Without your consent, card transactions for which you do not have sufficient funds will be declined at the point of purchase. Beginning in early May, all members will have the opportunity to “opt-in” via MemberConnect, over the phone, or a signed “Opt-In” form available soon either online or at any of our branch locations.
