Get big protection in a tiny chip.

Your Austin Telco Visa® Credit and Debit Cards feature an embedded chip that improves security every time you make purchases at a chip-activated terminal. Your card is not only more secure - it's also easy to use. Here's what you can look forward to as a cardholder.

Enhanced fraud protection.

When you use your card at a chip-activated terminal, the embedded chip generates a one-time use code. This code is virtually impossible to counterfeit and helps reduce in-store fraud.

Global acceptance.

More merchants are accepting chip transactions every day. Whether you check out using chip technology or swipe your card, you can pay with confidence where ever Visa credit and debit cards are accepted.

Easy to use.

Simply swipe your card like you do today. However, if a chip-activated terminal is available, insert your card instead and follow the prompts.

Frequently Asked Questions about Chip Technology.
Where can I use an EMV card?
You can use your card everywhere Visa is accepted including:

Chip Activated Terminals: Your EMV card offers the greatest security when inserted into a chip-activated terminal.
Terminals that are not chip-activated: You can continue using your card by swiping, because your ATFCU EMV card will still have a magnetic strip on the back.
Online: You can continue to make online purchases by entering your card number at the checkout.
ATMs: Your ATFCU EMV cards are still accepted at the ATMs you have always been using.
Can I use my EMV card overseas?
Although new in the US, Visa chip technology has been used around the world for a number of years. In fact, Visa chip cards are accepted in over 130 countries. As a result, you can enjoy greater security and make purchases with confidence everywhere you travel. Keep in mind that you may need a PIN for verification when traveling internationally. If the store in another country does not have a chip-activated terminal, you may simply swipe your card using the magnetic strip on the back.
Can I still swipe my card to pay?
Yes. If a merchant is not yet chip-activated, you can continue to swipe your card.
Will I have to pay any fees to use a chip card?
No. There are no additional fees to use a chip card.
