With tinsel, turkeys, and trips on the horizon, we bring a dash of financial relief.

Starting Monday, October 16th, Austin Telco’s Skip-A-Pay program can add some room to your holiday budget by allowing you to skip your loan payment(s) in the month of November or December.

There are several ways to set up Skip-A-Pay for your loan:

  • Online - go to our Skip-A-Pay page and fill out the form.

  • Complete the Skip-A-Pay coupon and mail or fax it to:

  • Submit the coupon in person at any of our branch locations starting Monday, October 16th.

The Skip-A-Pay coupon must be received before your payment is due. The following loans are excluded from this offer: Real Estate, Home Improvement, Home Equity, Term Loans, and Business Loans. Visa Skip-A-Pay coupons are due by October 27, 2023, to skip November 25, 2023, or November 28, 2023, to skip December 25, 2023. Please note that interest is still accrued when payments are skipped, and the term is extended. Normal qualifying is required. Skip-A-Payment is only available for current loans made before July 1, 2023, with no extensions within the past 12 months. One payment that is due between November 15, 2023, and December 31, 2023, may be skipped. Maximum extension is 30 days.


2023 Annual Meeting | Board of Director Nomination Process

Next March, two members will be elected to serve on the Board of Directors. The election process will be conducted in compliance with our Bylaws and Election Rules with the election taking place at the Annual Meeting on Thursday, March 7th, 2024 at the Balcones Centre building 4th floor training room, starting at 2:00PM.

A Nominating Committee, appointed by the Chairman of the Board, will select and present nominees to the membership. Members seeking consideration for nomination by the Nominating Committee must submit a resume and current photo as well as complete an “Application for Nomination to the Board of Directors” form by Thursday, November 16th, 2023. If the number of nominees equals the number of positions to be filled, other members may seek nomination by petition. There will be no nominations from the floor at the Annual Meeting. Any member seeking nomination by petition must submit a “Nomination by Petition Packet” along with a resume and current photo by Thursday, January 11th, 2024. Applications and “Nomination by Petition Packets” will be available during normal business hours Monday - Friday 9:00AM – 4:00PM at the Austin Telco main office located at 11149 Research Blvd., Suite 300, Austin, TX, 78759. All required documents noted above must be filed with the Nominating Committee by the specified deadline by delivering them to the main office during normal business hours.

In order to vote in an election of the Credit Union, an individual must be: 1) a member having qualified within the Credit Union’s defined field of membership as set forth in the Credit Union’s Bylaws and 2) must own a regular share account as a primary member with a balance equal to or in excess of the minimum balance requirements of the account classification. Joint owners of accounts are not eligible to vote unless they qualify as a member and have account in their own right. Members are not eligible to vote until having attained eighteen (18) years of age.

Names of members placed in nomination will be posted by Thursday, February 1st, 2024.


Digital Banking Upgrade

Austin Telco Federal Credit Union will be upgrading digital banking in spring 2024. We're excited to share details about the new features and improvements to mobile and desktop banking in the coming months. To prepare for this update:

  • If you use your account number to log in to online or mobile banking, change to a username. This is a best practice for online security and will be a requirement for our new system. From the login screen, select "Retrieve Username" to look up your username.

  • Update your contact information. In online banking, go to "Settings" (gear icon on the top right side) in the menu and then "Change Contact Information" to update your phone and email address. You can also visit your friendly, local ATFCU branch to update your information.

  1. Coats for Kids Drive: Winter's chill shouldn't be a concern for a child. Austin Telco has joined The Junior League of Austin’s Coats for Kids Coat Drive Competition! Help us keep Central Texas children warm by dropping off a new or gently used coat in the collection bin between November 6th and December 2nd.   2. Toy Drive: Bring joy to a child this festive season. Austin Telco is helping the local toy drives by serving as a toy drop off point. Drop off your toy donations between November 27th to December 9th, and be the Santa in someone's story.

Beware of the Fake Post Office Scam: A Message from the Cybersecurity Team

Important Scam Alert: Our cybersecurity team has recently identified a new smishing attack, a type of scam that uses text messages to deceive its targets. We feel it's crucial to keep you informed and protected, as this scam is not restricted solely to ATFCU staff or members.

Here's what the message may look like:

"Dear recipient, We regret to inform you that your USPS package is currently held at our warehouse due to incomplete address details. To ensure swift delivery, please verify your address by clicking on the following link: hxxps://usptrackib.top. Please respond with '1,' and then promptly exit the SMS. Open the SMS activation link again or copy the link into your Safari browser to access it. Warm regards from the US Postal team, and have a splendid day!”

Do Not Engage: This message is not from the US Postal Service. It's a malicious attempt to steal your personal information. If you receive this message or one similar to it:

  1. Do Not Click Any Links.
  2. Do Not Reply to the Message.
  3. Delete the Message Immediately.

Always stay vigilant. Scammers continually evolve their tactics, but by being informed and cautious, we can protect our personal information and keep our community safe.

Remember, when in doubt about the authenticity of a communication, it's best to verify directly with the entity claimed to be the sender, especially if it prompts you to click on a link or share personal information. Stay safe and remain alert!
