Domestic wire transfers at ATFCU are typically processed the same business day if submitted with complete instructions before the 2:00 p.m. cut-off time. International wire transfers usually take 1–5 business days, depending on the intermediary and receiving banks, and must be submitted before 10:30 a.m. for same-day processing. Incoming wires are credited as soon as they are received by ATFCU.
Yes, wire transfers are generally safe because they use secure banking networks like the Federal Reserve system, and funds are sent directly between financial institutions. However, it’s important to double-check all wiring instructions and only send funds to trusted recipients, as wire transfers are difficult to reverse once completed. ATFCU also verifies information to help ensure your transfer is processed securely.
Wire transfers cannot usually be cancelled once they have been processed and sent, as the funds are transferred directly to the receiving institution. If you need to cancel a wire, contact ATFCU immediately—if the wire hasn’t been sent yet, there may be a chance to stop it. Once the wire has been transmitted, cancellation or reversal is generally not possible.
